San Francisco, 1906: Fifteen-year-old Mercy Wong is determined to break from the poverty in Chinatown, and an education at St. Clare s School for Girls is her best hope. I found this book in one of our Little Libraries and picked it because a story around the San Francisco earthquake sounded interesting . I was pleasantly surprised, it's a good story with solid characters and moves at a good clip.
