doesn't live up to its challenge

So this is not as good as Black Cake, and it's somewhat hard to put my finger on which why - the generational connections and what-is-love and what-is-true are carefully threaded still, with some lovely writing. As this promises to also take up directly American Slavery and Comfort of Wealth and recurring Traumas, I needed either a tighter psychological or broader philosophical finish.
