"Lieutenant Eve Dallas has plenty to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it's a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood. Review of 'Thankless in death' on 'Goodreads'

The story itself was very good but there was way more gratuitous violence in this book than in previous. It's just not entertaining reading that.

On the positive, books heavy on Roarke's Irish family always lend a deeper level to the characters and are among my favorites in the series.

I'd probably give it a 3.75 but not a 4.
