urbanmv reviewed The Honourable Schoolboy by John le Carré
Great settings/characters, dull plot
4 stars
I used to be into le Carre, but that was over a decade ago. This is the first book of his I have read since. I liked it less than I remember liking his other books.
The settings were vivid, immersive. Everything feels real, and you can tell le Carre spends time to visit and understand the places he writes about. The vivid descriptions of old Hong Kong, Camboida and Viet Nam were the best part of the book for me.
Unfortunately I found the actual plot dull.
