Jamie Ford is a wonderful writer but holy heck this was one of the most depressing books I’ve ever read. It’s like he sat around and said how can I make these characters lives even more horrible.
First of all, when I want information about a medical condition, the last thing I need are stupid cartoons. The questionnaires in the book are so complicated they’re darn near impossible to figure out. And I’m typically someone who enjoys quizzes/questionnaires in a book.
I also couldn’t get past the obviously white male-centric, condescending point of view.
