not actually that cozy

Instead of the "Hero's Journey" with the world at stake, it seems this one used "Save The Cat" where only one person's whole world was at stake. (The fact that this was considered "cozy" makes me sad, but that's a reflection on English-language literature more than this book.) I listened to the author read it on Audible and -- in almost every chapter -- there is a reminder that the main character's whole life is at stake.

Folks who think this sort of stuff is cozy should really try out some Japanese light novels where you can visit delightful, imaginative worlds without any danger at all.

But, hey, there's no dystopia! That counts as something at least.
