A Novel with a Strong Voice that Appeals to a Particular Audience

McCurdy's prose is full of voice, yet I struggled to connect to Waldo. She prattled on about beauty products, clothes, and her attraction to her average, middle-aged teacher; I couldn't make myself care about any of it. I stopped reading around the 18% mark, realizing I'm not the target audience.
