It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.
It’s almost perfect. But I still haven’t met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I’m sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I’m doing laundry. And one day I can’t help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything…
That’s when I make a promise. After all, I’ve done this before. I can protect Mrs Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe.

Douglas Garrick has done wrong. He is going to pay. It’s simply a question of how far I’m willing to go…

I really enjoyed this.
I enjoyed the first book and wanted to read this one, too, especially with the 3rd one coming out. Which I will still read even though I didn't really care for this one. This series is like soap opera in a book. I do not want to think about it too much because I know it will fall apart, and I just want to enjoy the ride and have some fun.
Overall, I did not hate this book. I cannot justify giving it more than 3 stars, though, due to the following points:
((SPOILERS AHEAD, BEWARE!!!))
Wendy's POV - I just wanted to strangle her during her chapters where you see what was going on from her perspective. I wasn't bothered that this was done again, but at least in the first book with Nina, you felt bad for what she went through. Wendy is just a narcissistic …

Wendy's POV - I just wanted to strangle her during her chapters where you see what was going on from her perspective. I wasn't bothered that this was done again, but at least in the first book with Nina, you felt bad for what she went through. Wendy is just a narcissistic gold digger who is absolutely condescending to anyone else no matter who it is. Fine, give us someone to actually hate or dislike, but did we really need all the detailing being repeated over and over and over again about how disgusted she is with everyone?
The ending - I did not dislike the ending! But Millie's last thoughts...UGH! Wendy basically had you trapped, you were about to be arrested, and you still get annoyingly cocky for your last remark on how she wasn't very smart? Just...WHY?!
I can't really say I would recommend this at all because it was just so frustrating. I'll be interested to see if this one can be skipped or if this book will have a large impact on the next one.
